GROWTH TAKES COMMITMENT

The operator’s share: 15–20% of net farm profit after agreed operating costs, tiered by verified yield metrics. Process, input and harvest audits support transparent calculations.

At the end of Year 5: the agreement closes. Any reserved funds are shared using the agreed profit-share ratio. Continuing together requires a renegotiated agreement.

03 / BEFORE YOU APPLY

Clear expectations.
From day one.

Understand how pay, reinvestment and the long-term partnership work.

What does a Cultivar farm operator do?

As a Cultivar farm operator, you lead day-to-day production, manage farm resources and grow the enterprise with studio backing.

How am I paid after the first cycle?

During build-out, the operator receives a guaranteed monthly living stipend. Once Cycle 1 ends, revenue from that cycle funds the operator’s work in Cycle 2 and farm operating costs. Subsequent cycles follow the same approach: farm revenue funds operating costs and operator pay.

What does the two-year reinvestment rule mean?

Through the end of Year 2, all revenue remaining after agreed operating costs and operator pay is reinvested strictly into expansion. There are no cash profit distributions during this period. This reinvestment rule is a firm condition of the partnership.

What if Cycle 1 cannot fund my work in Cycle 2?

If Cycle 1 revenue cannot fund the operator’s work in Cycle 2, the outcome is treated as a net loss and the operator’s standing in the programme is reviewed.

What changes after Year 2?

From Year 3, expansion is assessed against the operator’s capacity to manage the farm effectively. Resulting net farm profit is shared, with 15–20% going to the operator according to the agreed performance tier. Net farm profit is calculated after agreed operating costs; process, input and harvest audits verify the records and yield metrics.

What determines the operator’s 15–20% profit share?

For cash profit distributions in Years 3–5, each farm project uses a baseline marketable yield target per plant stand for each crop cycle. Meeting the baseline gives the operator a 15% share; approximately 25% above baseline unlocks a 20% share. The share is calculated from net farm profit after agreed operating costs, using verified yield records.

Through the end of Year 2, all revenue remaining after agreed operating costs and operator pay is reinvested strictly into expansion. There are no cash profit distributions during that period.

What happens when the five-year agreement ends?

The agreement closes at the end of Year 5. Any reserved funds are shared using the agreed profit-share ratio, with 15–20% going to the operator according to their performance tier. Continuing beyond five years requires renegotiation.

Is expansion funding guaranteed?

No. Up to an additional ₦10 million may be deployed at the studio’s discretion after review of agreed performance milestones and the expansion plan. Meeting milestones does not guarantee funding. Seed and follow-on capital are deployed into the farm.

What commitment does Cultivar expect?

Practical agricultural experience, meticulous record keeping, willingness to train under a mentor, readiness to relocate near a farm site in Lagos, Ogun or Abuja, and commitment to a five-year growth path. We select up to six new farm ventures each year. Applying starts a selection process and does not guarantee acceptance or funding.
